At Tina's Tots, we take the safety of the children very seriously. Our facilities are equipped with the latest security systems, with living risk assessments in place, however you should always be vigilant to possible risks. Safety and safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
If you have a concern about a child inform the DSL (Kirsty, Vicki, Christina) without delay, it does not matter how small it is or how unsure you are. Report it using the cause for concern form (CFC).
If you have concerns about a member of staff, no matter how small, inform the DSL (Kirsty, Vicki, Christina) without delay. If it concerns all DSL you must contact LADO.
Team Building Weekend
Join us for our 5th year anniversary 20th Sept 2024 on our team building experience. Fun and games to be had by all.
Plan Ahead
At Tina's Tots we value parent partnership, building true bonds with the children and their families to gain a full understanding of the child.
We plan and deliver many events across the year to bring families and nursery together.
Ensure you ask for the yearly events calendar so that you can put these in your diary. You are expected to attend most events.
Make sure you come to work prepared mentally and physically for a day of play, communication, fun and engagement.
You are a role model to the amazing, inquisitive minds that surround you, so make every day a good day.
Think about:
-Suitable clothing, uniform, shoes and coats.
-Getting down to the child's level.
Providing active listening and eye contact.
-Use body language and actions to express meaning.
Use objects of reference, images and language to convey meaning.
- Follow the interests of the child, using the 5 finger rule to allow time to think, connections to be made and language to express.
Tina's Tots strives to be the best it can be, providing opportunities for all children to grow, develop and feel successful. To ensure continuity, equality and staff development all staff receive monthly supervisions, informal and formal observations, appraisals, guidance and support. We offer an in depth induction, monthly group training via Noodle, and targeted training for individual need via Noodle, Leeds4Learning and other external providers.
As a minimum all staff are expected to obtain a paediatric first aid qualification no longer than every 3 years, safeguarding training every year, level 2 food hygiene and health and safety in the work place.
We strongly believe in life long learning and are currently participating in various Nation wide and local initiatives, such as the EYPDP.
We offer a wide variety of engaging activities that help children learn and grow, including arts and crafts, music, outdoor play, and more. Our curriculum is designed to be fun and educational, so that all children can thrive in a stimulating environment.
You should use the Plan, Do, Review cycle to plan fun, engaging learning opportunities for all children.
Being a key person means you should know that child inside out, what they like, don't like, enjoy, need etc. Through observations you should build a picture of their abilities and plan to fill their gaps.
Should you identify any developmental concerns you should inform your room leader and management in order to create an ISP (individual support plan) with the child and parents. There may be a need for the SENCO involvement and also external agencies. Early identification is crucial for optimal outcomes for children now and later in life.
To be a successful educator you must understand what you are doing and why you are doing it.
You must have a greater level of understanding in child development, including typical development, neurodiversity's and the individual needs of the children within the setting.
You must read and fully understand the following documents:
- EYFS 2023
- Birth to 5 Matters
- Tina's Tots Mission Statement
- Tina's Tots Ethos
- Tina's Tots Curriculum
- Staff Handbook
The child is at the center of everything we do and why we do it.
Every child should feel happy, safe and secure whilst with us, and have opportunities for development and engagement at their current age and stage of development.
